2D animation exercises

Summary

These 2D animation excercises were done as various college projects over a semester, to serve as an introduction to the rules of animation, and familiarizing us with various animation concepts and pipelines.

As part of the curriculum, we started doing simple “ball” animation excercises on paper using a light table. We later moved on to using Maya and Procreate to animate digitally and facilitate this process, before moving to more complex tasks like a walk cycle.

The last excercise had us animate a crude mock-up of a videogame, with an emphasis in animation and placing the player in a story. This, while designed mainly as an animation excercise, it served me to realize just how many different moving parts and systems are present in a videogame, and how they all converge in a curated centralized experience.
